Help with research and answering questions
If you need something that we do not own, you can request it. We will either purchase the item or request to borrow it from another library for you. We will make the decision to purchase or borrow based on a number of factors including potential use by other patrons, availability, and cost.
[If you need something we do own but that is checked out, you can find it in our online catalog and place a hold on it or ask that we place a hold on it for you.]
You can request materials in person at the library, by telephone at (580) 223-8290, or by email. Some materials are difficult to borrow via Interlibrary Loan (ILL), such as genealogy resources, reference books, new books, DVDs, etc., and we may not be able to get them at all; also, the process of borrowing anything via ILL can take several weeks. Occasionally, other libraries charge fees and we will ask if you are willing to pay those when we are notified by the lending library, before we borrow on your behalf. Normally, borrowed items can be checked out just like other materials but sometimes restrictions such as shortened loan time and "in library use only" are placed on these items by the lending library. Items we decide to purchase will take a minimum of a week to be available to you and often longer depending on where we buy it and how many other requests we have at the same time.
